Nigerian Entertainment News: “I Once Worked In A ‘Pure Water’ Factory – Joeboy Shares Insights into his Early Life Struggles

Joeboy, a renowned Nigerian musician, has opened up about the challenges he faced in his early years, recalling a period when he was employed at a bottled water factory while experiencing a university strike

The Nigerian singer, who majored in Human Resources and Personal Management, discussed his struggles in securing employment during a three-month university shutdown.

Confronted with the daunting prospect of joblessness, he eventually secured a position as a salesperson at a bottled water plant in Lagos.

“I was looking so hard for a job and couldn’t find any. Is this how I’m going to end up when I finish school?”

Joeboy said during the interview.

Joeboy depicted his journey as a “miracle,” revealing that despite initial hesitations from some quarters, Mr. Eazi, the founder of his former record label, took a chance on him, leading to his unexpected signing with Empawa, where his musical career skyrocketed.

Highlighting the unforeseen nature of his success, Joeboy mentioned that not even his parents had foreseen his entry into the music industry. Despite initial doubts, Joeboy has since achieved what he describes as his true calling.

In his words:

“I studied Human Resources and Personal Management. When I was in the university, there was a strike for like three months. So I decided to get a job and I was searching for a job for like three months in the whole of Lagos. I did not get one single job.

There was even a time I worked in a pure water factory as a marketer. At that point I was like, ‘I’m looking so hard for a job and I can’t find any. Is this how I’m going to end up when I finish school?’ So that was also a trigger. I told myself, ‘You really have to make sure you make it [in the music industry].”
